Latest action in the Cornwall Veterans League

In the Cornwall Veterans League Division 1, Millbrook made it two wins out of two, but had to recover from a 2-1 half time deficit at Bude Town. Marc Burman and Simon Furse had given the hosts the advantage at the halfway point, but the visitors recovered to maintain their 100% record. On target for ‘brook were Brett Shannon, Gareth Tutt and James Carhart.
Another team to maintain their 100% record in Division 1 is Callington Town. They raced into a 3-0 half time lead against visiting Royal Par. The visitors recovered after the break and pulled the score back to 3-2. However, the hosts weren’t to be denied and struck three further goals to run out 6-2 winners. Scorers for the victorious home side were Ryan Lucassi (3), Pete Jonas (2), and Stephen Daymond.
With Downderry Rovers usual home pitch at Dobwalls unavailable their home game versus Saltash United was played at Rally Park, Lanreath. Both sides traded goals in the opening period. Leon Caers notching for Rovers and Phil Screech netting for the visitors. With no further goals both sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
In Division 2, two teams who are expected to be challenging for promotion met at Boscawen Park, St Dennis, where the home side welcomed St Agnes Bolsters. St Dennis were first to show opening the scoring inside the first minute. Bolsters though recovered and went into the break 3-1 to the good. Five minutes into the second period Bolsters extended their advantage to 4-1, however two minutes later the hosts were back in the game reducing the deficit to 4-2. In a mad last 20 minutes the visitors ran riot banging in another five goals to wrap up an impressive 9-2 victory. Kevin Allen led the way for Bolsters notching five times with Dan O’Toole, Scott Goodchild, Mark Rapsey and an own goal completing the scoring for the visitors. On target for the home side were Adam Floyd and Ryan Hayhurst.
Steve Capeling(2), Chris Brown (2) and Chris Kelly were amongst the goals for Newquay at Mount Wise where Grampound were the visitors. Playing with a stiff breeze at their backs the home side raced into a five goal halftime lead. They added another soon after the break, but the rest of the game belonged to Grampound with Ricky O’Neill, Matt Skews and Martin Baker pulling the scoreline back to 6-3.
Kernow Wanderers will be happy to see the backs of Redruth United for this season. After being dumped out of the Knockout Cup by United, Wanderers travelled to Redruth for their league encounter and once again found themselves second best. Nigel Martyn netted a brace in a 5-0 win, with Ian Jenkin, Peter Barnes and Guy Johnson scoring the other goals
