Q Cornwall Leisure Veterans League Division 1 leaders, Callington Town travelled with depleted numbers to face West Cornwall cup team, Troon. Indeed, the visitors played the match with 10 men and the home side went into the break two goals to the good. The second half saw the hosts make their numerical advantage count and eventually ran out 7-1 winners. Justin Harrington and Karl Turner both scored twice for Troon, with Dale Band, Gareth Edwards and Greg Reynolds weighing in with the other goals.
The only other game was the battle of the H’s where Halsetown hosted Helston Athletic at St Ives Rugby Club in Division 2. It was visiting Athletic who started brightly and took the lead early in the first half. That’s how it stayed until half time, but Helston doubled their lead soon after the restart. With the home side pushing on trying to get back in the game they were caught out at the back and conceded two further goals late in the game to give the visitors a 4-0 victory.
